Navigating in Oracle Instant Portal

The navigation area in your portal, which appears along the left of every page (except the home page), is automatically created for you as you create pages within the portal. Unlike other portal products, in Oracle Instant Portal you don't have to worry about managing a separate navigational entity. Everything is refreshed for you as you work, inserting newly added child pages in the right order and making sure that all pages are listed in the hierarchy.

Here are some important concepts to keep in mind as you navigate through Oracle Instant Portal:

To display a page, click the name of the page. If you are not in edit mode, the page is automatically displayed. If you are in edit mode, a white arrow within a green circle is displayed. Click the arrow (circled) to display the page:

Pages are always displayed in the content area, which is to the right of the navigation area:
If you are looking at the Favorite Content area or the Search results page, click the name of a Text item to display that item on the page on which it was originally published. File items are opened in a new browser.
To enter edit mode, click the Edit Mode icon () at the top of the page. To see the page as users see it (that is, in view mode), click the icon again. (If you don't see the Edit Mode icon, that means you don't have edit privileges on the page.)
