Create Category

Use this page to create a new category for classifying the content of the page group.

Category Properties

Field Description
Parent Category Displays the name of the category under which you are creating the new category, or <None> if the category is at the top level in the page group.
Name

Enter a name for the category. The name can be used in a URL to directly access the category. Direct access URLs take the following format:

http://<hostname>:<portnumber>/pls/<dad>/url/page/<pagegroupname>/<categoryname>

For example:

http://mymachine.mycompany.com:5000/pls/portal/url/page/myportal/mycategory
http://mymachine.mycompany.com:5000/pls/portal/url/page/myportal/mycategory/mysubcategory

Note: The name must be unique within the page group and the Shared Objects page group. The name is limited to 60 characters and can contain only alphanumeric characters (A-Z a-z 0-9) and the underscore character; spaces and other special characters are not allowed.

Display Name

Enter a descriptive display name for the category.

Note: The display name can contain up to 240 characters.

  1. Click the Navigator link, then click the Page Groups tab.
  2. At the top level, click the link for the page group in which you want to create the category.
  3. Click the Categories link.
  4. Next to Create New, click the Category link.
