Use this page to create a new perspective for classifying the content of the page group.
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Parent Perspective | Displays the name of the perspective under which you are creating the new perspective, or <None> if the perspective is at the top level in the page group. |
| Name | Enter a name for the perspective. The name can be used in a URL to directly access the perspective. Direct access URLs take the following format:
For example:
Note: The name must be unique within the page group and the Shared Objects page group. The name is limited to 60 characters and can contain only alphanumeric characters (A-Z a-z 0-9) and the underscore character; spaces and other special characters are not allowed. |
| Display Name | Enter a descriptive display name for the perspective. Note: The display name can contain up to 240 characters. |
When you click Create, a link is displayed at the top of the page from which you can edit the perspective. You can also create additional perspectives, or click Close to return to the Navigator.
When users create pages and items, they can associate them with as many perspectives as they like. Other users can then choose to view all of the pages and items associated with a particular perspective.
When you create a perspective, a page is also created. This page includes an autoquery custom search portlet that lists all the items and pages that belong to the perspective. Regions can be set up to display perspectives. When users click a perspective, that perspective's page is displayed, listing all the items and pages that belong to the perspective.
The first time you create a perspective in a page group, a page template is also created and all perspective pages in the page group are based on this page template. This means that if you want to change the way perspective pages look, you just need to edit the perspective page template (rather than each individual perspective page). Although you can base any page on this template, we recommend that you use it only for pages used to list perspective contents.
