Edit Perspective: Main

Use this page to change the name and title of a perspective, to enter or change the perspective description, and to select whether to display an associated image with the perspective.

Perspective Properties

Field Description
Name

Edit the name of the perspective. The name can be used in a URL to directly access the perspective. Direct access URLs take the following format:

http://<hostname>:<portnumber>/pls/<dad>/url/page/<pagegroupname>/<perspectivename>

For example:

http://mymachine.mycompany.com:5000/pls/portal/url/page/myportal/myperspective
http://mymachine.mycompany.com:5000/pls/portal/url/page/myportal/myperspective/mysubperspective

Note: The name must be unique within the page group and the Shared Objects page group. The name is limited to 60 characters and can contain only alphanumeric characters (A-Z a-z 0-9) and the underscore character; spaces and other special characters are not allowed.

Display Name

Edit the descriptive display name of the perspective.

Note: The display name can contain up to 240 characters.

Description Enter a description for the perspective. The description is visible only when editing the perspective and should explain the purpose of the perspective.

Display Option

Field Description
Display Icon With Items Click to have the associated image of the perspective display next to the item that uses it. If the perspective does not have an image, then the display name appears instead. This option only applies if the chosen page type has perspectives as a displayed attribute.

  1. Click the Navigator link, then click the Page Groups tab.
  2. At the top level, click the link for the page group that owns the perspective that you want to edit.
  3. Click the Perspectives link.
  4. Click the Edit link in the row for the perspective.
