Edit Page: Style

Use this page to:

NoteDepending on your privileges, you may not be able to perform all of the tasks listed above. For example, if you do not have Manage Style privileges on the page, you will not be able to apply a new style to the page.

Be careful when editing the properties of the style applied to the page: any changes you make to a style affect all other pages and regions that use the style.

Current Style

Field Description
Current Style Displays the name of the style that is currently applied to the page.
Choose Style

Choose a different style to apply to the page.

Note: This list includes the choice <Use User's Default Style>. With this selection, the style a user chooses via the Account Info link will be used. The style each user will see will depend on his or her default style. If no default was chosen, the Group Default is used. In the absence of a group default, the System Default is used.

Style Properties

Field Description
style display name link

Click to edit the style that is currently applied to the page.

Note: If you do not see the style display name link, you have not been granted the appropriate privileges to edit the style.

preview

Displays a preview of the style that is currently selected in the Choose Style list. Select:

  • Portlets to preview a portlet in the style
  • Items to preview an item in the style
  • Tabs to preview a tab in the style
  • Common to preview common style properties

New Style

Field Description
Name

Enter a name to identify the style within OracleAS Portal.

Note: The name must be unique within the page group, and can contain only alphanumeric characters (A-Z, a-z, 0-9), spaces, and the following special characters:

- _ . ! , ; + ~ @ ( ) [ ] { } ^ $ +

Display Name Enter a display name to identify the style to other users. This is the name that is displayed in the Navigator.
Copy From

Choose the style that best matches the look that you want to create. When you click Create, your new style is created with the same style properties as the style you choose here, and is automatically applied to the page. You can then edit the new style to make it match your requirements exactly.

Note: This list includes all the public styles in this page group and the shared objects page group, as well as any styles that you have created in this page group for your own use.

Make available for use in this page group

Select to make this style available for other pages within this page group or to use as a basis for other styles owned by this page group.

Note: This check box is available only to users with Manage All or Manage Styles privileges on the page group in which the style is created, or with Manage or Publish privileges on All Styles.

Create Click to create the style. The new style is automatically applied to the page.

  1. In OracleAS Portal, click the Build tab to bring it forward.
  2. On the resulting Portal Builder page, go to the Page Group portlet.
  3. Under Edit Page, click Browse icon next to the Name field.
  4. In the resulting window, click Return Object next to the page you want to edit.
  5. Click the Edit button next to the Name field.
  6. In Edit mode, go to Page in the page toolbar, and click the Properties link.
  7. Click the Style tab to bring it forward.
