Edit Page: Access

Use this page to specify which users may access the page and the actions they can perform on it.

NoteYou cannot create users on this page. If you want to grant page privileges to a new user, the portal administrator must first create the user.

Access Setting

Note: This section is available only if the page is based on a template, and the page template is set up to enable pages to use their own style.

Field Description
Inherit Access Settings from Template <Template Name> Select to use the same access control settings as are specified for the page template. If the access control settings for the page template are changed, those changes will affect this page.
Specify Access Settings Select to choose different access control settings for this page. If the access control settings for the page template are changed, those changes will not affect this page.

Access Properties

Field Description
Display Page To Public Users

Select to allow all users to view the page, even users who are not logged on.

If you do not select this check box, only the page group administrator, page owners, and users to whom you have explicitly granted access privileges will be able to view this page.

Enable Item Level Security

Select to allow item creators to specify access control for individual items in the page.

If you do not select this check box, all the items on the page inherit access control from the page. If you select this check box, item creators have the choice of inheriting access control from the page, or specifying specific access control for individual items.

Example: If item level security is enabled, a user who has View privileges on a page, can be granted Manage Content privileges on an item on that page.

Note:

  • This check box is available only if the page is a Standard page, or is of a custom page type based on the Standard page type.

Grant Access

Field Description
Grantee Enter the name of the user or group who should have access to the page. If you are not sure of the name of the user or group, click Users icon (for users) or Groups icon (for groups) and select from the list provided.
privilege list Choose the privilege level to grant to the user or group.
Add

Click to grant the chosen privileges to the specified user or group.

Note: When you click Add, the user or group is added to the Change Access section of this page, where you can change or revoke the privileges if required.

Change Access

Field Description
Grantee

Displays the name of the user or group that has been granted privileges on the page.

Note: Click Delete icon to revoke the page privileges from this user or group.

Type Displays whether the grantee is a user or a group.
Privilege Choose a new privilege level to grant to the user or group.

Cache Invalidation

Field Description
Clear Cache

Click to clear all the Web Cache entries for the page. The next time the page is requested, it will be retrieved from the database, not the cache.

Example: If you revoke a user's privileges on the page, the user will still be able to access the page if it is in the cache. If you want to make sure that your changes are applied immediately, clear the page from the cache by clicking this link.

Note: This link is available only if one or more of the Web Cache global settings are enabled.

  1. In OracleAS Portal, click the Build tab to bring it forward.
  2. On the resulting Portal Builder page, go to the Page Group portlet.
  3. Under Edit Page, click Browse icon next to the Name field.
  4. In the resulting window, click Return Object next to the page you want to edit.
  5. Click the Edit button next to the Name field.
  6. In Edit mode, go to Page in the page toolbar, and click the Properties link.
  7. Click the Access tab to bring it forward.
