Tab Properties

Field Description
Name

Enter a name to identify the tab within OracleAS Portal. Whether you enter this text in upper- or lowercase, OracleAS Portal automatically capitalizes it. OracleAS Portal uses this name in the formation of direct access (or "pretty") URLs. To verify the name OracleAS Portal will recognize in a direct access URL, add an item to the tab, and note the tab name in the Add Item Wizard's Path information.

Note: The name must be unique. It is limited to 40 characters, and can include alphanumeric characters (A to Z, a to z, 0 to 9), spaces, and the following special characters:

_ - . , ; ! = ~ @ ( ) [ ] { } ^ $ +

Display Name

Enter a descriptive display name for the tab.

Note: The display name is limited to 40 characters.

Active Tab Image

Enter the path and file name of the image to use when the tab is currently selected (i.e., the active tab). Only one tab within a tab set may be active at a time. Click Browse to locate the image if you are not sure of its path or file name. When you click Apply or OK, the file is uploaded to the database.

Example: You might want to create a set of tabs that looks something like this:

A set of tabs

Notes:

  • If you decide to use tab images, the image replaces the display name. If you want a name to display with the image, it must appear as part of the image. The display name entered in the Display Name field displays when users move a cursor over the tab.
  • If you choose to apply a rollover effect to the tabs in this region, the active tab image is displayed when users move a cursor over the tab.
Inactive Tab Image Enter the path and file name of the image to use when the tab is not active. Typically, the inactive tab image contains the same text or image as the active tab image, but appears in a different color. Click Browse to locate the image if you are not sure of its path or file name. When you click Apply or OK, the file is uploaded to the database.
