Add Portlets To Region

Field Description
Available Portlets

Displays the contents of the Portlet Repository or, if you searched for a portlet in the Search field, displays the search results.

Select a portlet category to display its portlets. To select a portlet to add to this region, click the portlet name. (Multiple select capabilities are not available.) To see a preview of the portlet before adding it to your page, click Preview.

When you search for a portlet, the name of the "page" on which the portlet appears in the repository is displayed directly beneath the portlet. For example, if you search on "Favorites", you'll see:

Results of Search on Favorites

If you click Content, you'll see Favorites listed along with other portlets that have been grouped on the Content page. This makes it easier to locate portlets that perform roughly the same type of function.

Note: To create additional portlet providers, see the Portal Developer Kit (PDK), which contains documented examples and reference materials.

Search To locate a portlet in the repository, enter the string or partial string in the Search field. Wild card characters are not necessary.
Selected Portlets

Lists the portlets that are displayed in this region. Portlets that are already on the page when you access Add Portlets are flagged with an asterisk.

When you include more than one portlet in a region, the region automatically expands to accommodate as many portlets as you choose, increasing the overall size of the page (as well as the time it takes to display it.)

Notes: To delete a portlet from this page, select the portlet, then click Delete, which appears to the right of Selected Portlets. If you do not see the Delete icon, make sure you have expanded the window to its full width. To rearrange the order in which the portlets appear within the region, select a portlet, then use the up and down arrows to reposition the portlet relative to the others.
