Edit Portlet: Access

Use this page to set the portlet security levels and control which users and groups can see the portlet.

Portlet security controls who can see the portlet on a page as well as in the Portlet Repository and on the Add Portlet page.

Portlet Security

Field Description
Define Portlet Access Privileges

Select to define separate access privileges for this portlet.

Note: Click Apply to refresh this tab and display the access fields in which you can assign portlet privileges to specific users and groups.

Grant Access

Field Description
Grantee Enter the name of the user or group who should have access to this portlet. If you are not sure of the name of the user or group, click Browse Users (for users) or Browse Groups (for groups), and select from the list provided.
privilege list Choose the privilege level to grant to the user or group.
Add

Click to grant the chosen privileges to the specified user or group.

Note: When you click Add, the user or group is added to the Change Access section of this page, where you can change or revoke the privileges if required.

Change Access

Field Description
Grantee

Displays the name of the user or group that has been granted privileges on this portlet.

Note: Click Delete to revoke the portlet privileges from this user or group.

Type Displays whether the grantee is a user or a group.
Privilege

Choose a new privilege level to grant to the user or group.

Cache Invalidation

Field Description
Clear Cache

Click to clear all the Web Cache entries for the portlet. The next time the portlet is requested, it will be retrieved from the provider, not the cache.

Example: If you revoke a user's privileges on the portlet, the user will still be able to access the portlet if it is in the cache. If you want to make sure that your changes are applied immediately, clear the portlet from the cache by clicking this link.

Note: This link is available only if one or more of the Web Cache global settings are enabled.

  1. Click the Administer tab.
  2. In the Portlet Repository section, click Display Portlet Repository.
  3. Click Edit Page.
  4. Click the folder name (such as Administration or Content) that includes the portlet.
  5. Click Actions next to the portlet.
  6. Click the Edit Portlet Instance link.
  7. Click the Access tab.
