Edit Portlet: Attributes

Use this page to view and edit the portlet's attributes. You cannot edit the portlet's URL, provider ID, provider name, portlet ID, and portlet instance global unique ID. You can edit attributes such as the portlet's display name, category, and description.

Item Attributes

Field Description
URL Displays the portlet's preview URL path location. You cannot change this value.
Display Name Edit the display name for this item.
Image URL Enter the URL path to the thumbnail image for this portlet.
Category Choose the category to which you want the portlet to belong. A portlet must belong to a category, and can belong to only one category.
Provider Id Displays the ID of the provider to which the portlet belongs. You cannot change this value
Provider Name Displays the name of the provider to which the portlet belongs. You cannot change this value.
Portlet Id Displays the ID generated for this portlet. You cannot change this value.
Portlet Instance Global Unique Id

Displays the global unique ID (GUID) of a shared portlet. You cannot change this value.

Note: This field contains a value only if the portlet is a shared portlet instance.

Help URL Enter the URL path to any help document about this portlet.
Description Enter up to 2000 characters of descriptive information about the portlet.
Basic Search Keywords

Enter keywords, separated by a single space, that describe the portlet. Try to enter words that an end user might use when trying to locate this portlet during a search operation.

Notes:

  • Do not separate keywords by pressing the Return or Enter key.

  • Enclose multiple word keywords in single quotes, for example, 'weight lifting'.

Perspectives

Select the perspectives to which you want the portlet to belong. Unlike categories, you can choose more than one perspective for a portlet.

To assign a perspective to this portlet, select the perspective in the Available Perspectives list and click Move Right to move it to the Displayed Perspectives list. To assign the item to all perspectives, click Move Right All.

To unassign a perspective, select the perspective in the Displayed Perspectives list and click Move Left to move it to the Available Perspectives list. To unassign all perspectives, click Move Left All.

Use Move Top, Move Up, Move Down, Move Bottom to determine the order that the perspectives are displayed next to the portlet.

  1. Click the Administer tab.
  2. In the Portlet Repository section, click Display Portlet Repository.
  3. Click Edit Page.
  4. Click the folder name (such as Administration or Content) that includes the portlet.
  5. Click Actions next to the portlet.
  6. Click the Edit Portlet Instance link.
