Edit Page Template: Events

Use this page to specify what actions to take when events occur within portlets on this page template.

Portlet Events

Field Description
Portlet Events

Lists the portlets on the page template and indicates whether they have events associated with them. Click Right Arrow icon or the portlet name to display the portlet's events. If a portlet does not have any events defined, it cannot be expanded.

Click an event name to edit the event.

Notes:

  • Click Expand All to display the events for all the portlets on this page template. Click Collapse All to hide the events for all the portlets on this page template.
  • For information about how to add events to your portlets, see the Portal Developer Kit on Oracle Technology Network.
  • Page designers cannot edit the events of this template's portlets when they edit pages based on this template.
Event Outputs Displays the event's output parameters.
When this event is raised

Select:

  • Go to Page to go to a specific page when the event occurs. Click Browse icon and select the page from the list provided.
  • Redisplay Page to ignore the event.
Page Input Displays the name of the page parameter to which a value is sent when the event occurs.
value type list

Choose:

  • Null if you do not want to send a value to the page parameter when the event occurs.
  • Event Output if you want to send the value of an event output parameter to the page parameter when the event occurs.
  • System Variable if you want to send the value of a system variable to the page parameter when the event occurs.
  • Constant if you want to send a specific value to the page parameter when the event occurs.

If you are using Internet Explorer: Choose the event output parameter or system variable that provides the page parameter's value, or enter the constant value for the page parameter.

If you are using Netscape Navigator: Enter the name of the event output parameter or system variable that provides the page parameter's value, or enter the constant value for the page parameter. If you are not sure of the event output parameter or system variable name, click Browse icon and select a parameter or variable from the list provided.

  1. Log in to OracleAS Portal, and click the Navigator link at the top of the page.
  2. Click the Contents link next to the page group that "owns" the template you want to edit.
  3. On the resulting page, click the Templates node.
  4. On the resulting page, click the Edit link next to the template you want to edit.
  5. In the page toolbar at the top of the page, click the Properties link next to Templates.
  6. Click the Events tab to bring it forward.
