Edit Page Template: Parameters

Use this page to add or edit page parameters and provide values for the portlet parameters of the portlets on this page template.

New Page Parameter

Field Description
Parameter Name

Enter a name for the page parameter.

Note: The name must be unique within the page template, and can contain up to 200 characters. The name can contain only alphanumeric characters (A-Z, a-z, 0-9) and the underscore (_) character. Do not use spaces or other special characters.

Add Click to add the page parameter to the page template.

Page Parameter Properties

Field Description
Name

Displays the name of the page parameter.

Notes:

  • Click Delete icon to delete the page parameter.
  • Click Up Arrow icon to move the page parameter up in the list. The order of page parameters in this section determines the order in which they are displayed to users on the Customize Page: Parameters tab of pages that are based on this template. Parameters from the template on which a page is based are always displayed before any parameters defined for the page itself.
  • Page designers cannot edit the template's page parameters when they edit pages based on this template.
Display Name

Enter a descriptive name for the page parameter.

If you allow users to customize the value of this page parameter (by selecting the Customizable check box), the display name appears on the Customize Page: Parameters tab of pages that are based on this template. Enter a meaningful name that will help users understand what kind of value to provide for the parameter.

Note: The display name can contain up to 4000 characters.

Default Value

Enter a default value for the parameter.

Example: If you add a page parameter to store the value of a stock symbol, you might set the default value of the parameter to be your company's stock symbol.

Customizable Select to allow users to customize the value of this page parameter.
Description

Provide a brief description of the purpose of this parameter.

Portlet Parameter Values

Field Description
Portlets

Lists the portlets on the page template and indicates whether they have portlet parameters associated with them. Click Right Arrow icon or the portlet name to expand the portlet and display its parameters. If a portlet does not have any parameters defined, it cannot be expanded in the list.

Notes:

  • Click Expand All to display the parameters for all the portlets on this page template. Click Collapse All to hide the parameters for all the portlets on this page template.

  1. Log in to OracleAS Portal, and click the Navigator link at the top of the page.
  2. Click the Contents link next to the page group that "owns" the template you want to edit.
  3. On the resulting page, click the Templates node.
  4. On the resulting page, click the Edit link next to the template you want to edit.
  5. In the page toolbar at the top of the page, click the Properties link next to Templates.
  6. Click the Parameters tab to bring it forward.
