Edit Page Template: Access

Use this page to specify which users may access pages that are based on this template and the actions they can perform on those pages.

Access Override Setting

Field Description
Enable Pages To Have Different Access Select to enable page designers to choose different access control settings when they create or edit pages based on this template. If you do not select this check box, pages based on this template will always use the access control specified on this page.

Access Properties

Field Description
Display Page To Public Users

Select to allow all users to view pages based on this template, even users who are not logged on.

If you do not select this check box, only the page designer, the page group administrator, and users to whom you explicitly grant access privileges in the Grant Access section will be able to access pages based on this template.

Enable Item Level Security

Select to allow item creators to specify access control for individual items in pages based on this template.

If you do not select this check box, all the items on the page inherit access control from the page. If you select this check box, item creators have the choice of inheriting access control from the page or specifying specific access control for individual items.

Example: If item level security is enabled, a user who has View privileges on a page can be granted the Manage Content privileges on an item on that page.

Note:

  • This option takes effect only if the page based on the template is a Standard page or a custom page type that is based on the Standard page type.

Grant Access

Field Description
Grantee

Enter the name of the user or group who should have access to pages based on this template. If you are not sure of the name of the user or group, click Users icon (for users) or Groups icon (for groups), and select from the list provided.

privilege list Choose the privilege level to grant to the user or group.
Add

Click to grant the chosen privileges to the specified user or group.

Note: When you click Add, the user or group is added to the Change Access section of this page, where you can change or revoke the privileges if required.

Change Access

Field Description
Grantee

Displays the name of the user or group that has been granted privileges on pages based on this template.

Note: Click Delete icon to revoke the page privileges from this user or group.

Type Displays whether the grantee is a user or a group.
Privilege Choose a new privilege level to grant to the user or group.

Cache Invalidation

Field Description
Clear Cache

Click to clear all the Web Cache entries for the page template. The next time the page template is requested, it will be retrieved from the database, not the cache.

Example: If you revoke a user's privileges on the page template, the user will still be able to access the page template if it is in the cache. If you want to make sure that your changes are applied immediately, clear the page template from the cache by clicking this link.

Note: This link is available only if one or more of the Web Cache global settings are enabled.

  1. Log in to OracleAS Portal, and click the Navigator link at the top of the page.
  2. Click the Contents link next to the page group that "owns" the template you want to edit.
  3. On the resulting page, click the Templates node.
  4. On the resulting page, click the Edit link next to the template you want to edit.
  5. In the page toolbar at the top of the page, click the Properties link next to Templates.
  6. Click the Access tab to bring it forward.
