Create Page Template

Use this page to specify basic properties about the page template, such as its name.

Field Description
Name

Enter a name OracleAS Portal will use in the formation of direct access (or "pretty") URLs. To verify the name OracleAS Portal will recognize in a direct access URL, add an item to the page template, and note the name in the Add Item Wizard's Path information.

Note: The name must be unique within the page group and the Shared Objects page group, and is limited to 40 characters. The name can contain only alphanumeric characters (A-Z, a-z, 0-9) and the underscore (_) character. Do not use spaces or other special characters.

Display Name

Enter a display name to identify the page template to other users. This is the name that is displayed in the Navigator.

Note: The display name is limited to 40 characters.

Description Enter any information that you think would be useful to others who edit the page template. The description is displayed only when editing the template, not when viewing the template, or pages based on the template.
Make available for use in this page group Select to make this page template available for other users to apply to the pages in this page group.
Navigation Page For Banner

Choose a navigation page to use as a banner for the page template. The navigation page is added as a portlet to a region across the top of the page template. Be sure to choose a navigation page that fits appropriately.

Note: This list includes all the navigation pages in this page group and the shared objects page group.

  1. In OracleAS Portal, click the Build tab to bring it forward.
  2. Go to the Page Groups portlet and in the Page Group field, enter the name of the page group you want to "own"/parent this template.
  3. Click the Create a Page Template link.
