Add Item

Use this page to choose the type of item you want to add to the page.

The following lists item types that may appear on this page. You may or may not see any of the item types listed below. In addition, you may see other item types that are not listed. The page group administrator chooses the item types that are displayed for a page group. Contact your administrator if you have any questions about the item types that are displayed.

Notes:

Item types preceded by "Simple" have few attributes. This allows items created based on the item type to be quickly added to a page, and it allows the item type to be easily extended with additional attributes.
If you are the page group administrator, or a user with the appropriate privileges, this page contains the link, "configure the list of available items". From this link, you can configure the list of item types that are displayed here. When you are done configuring the list of item types, you will be returned to this page.

Item Type Selection

Field	Description
Content Item Types	The content item types may include: File and Simple File: Uploads a file and stores it in the page group. URL and Simple URL: Links to another Web page, Web site, or document. Text and Simple Text: Displays text (up to 32KB). Simple Image: Uploads an image and stores it in the page group. Image and Simple Image Map: Uploads an image and allows the contributor to identify areas within the image that users can click to go to different URLs. PL/SQL and Simple PL/SQL: Executes PL/SQL code and displays the results. Page Link and Simple Page Link: Links to another page in the page group. Zip File: Uploads a zip file, which users can then unzip within the page group as a method of uploading many files in a single operation.
Built-In Navigation Item Types	The built-in navigation item types may include: Portal Smart Link: Adds a smart link (and associated image) to the page. A smart link is a link that users can click to access areas of the portal quickly, such as Account Information, Advanced Search, Contact Information, Help, and Home. Login/Logout Link: Adds links and/or icons to the page that users can click to log in or log out of the portal. Basic Search Box: Adds a basic search box (and associated image) to the page in which users can enter search criteria. You can specify whether users can search all page groups or only the page group you specify. List of Objects: Adds a list of objects (pages, categories, and perspectives) that you specify to the page. You can choose to display this list as a drop-down list or as links (with or without associated images). Portal Smart Text: Adds smart text, such as the current date, current user, or current page to the page. Object Map Link: Adds a map of objects available in the portal. Page Path: Adds the page path to the page. You can choose the number of levels for the path, and the character that separates the path levels. Page Function: Adds a page function to the page. If there are no page functions associated with the current page, this item type is not displayed.

Content Item Types

The content item types may include:

File and Simple File: Uploads a file and stores it in the page group.
URL and Simple URL: Links to another Web page, Web site, or document.

Locating this Page

In the Page Groups portlet, under Edit a Page, click next to the Name field.
Select the page on which you want to add an item, then click Edit.
Click in an item or empty region.

Tips:

By default the Page Groups portlet is located on the Build tab of the Builder page.
If the specific item type that you want to add does not appear in the list, the page group administrator may have not included that type of item in the page group.
